Pennsylvania Auctioneer, Matt Hurley, Wins Sunshine State Invitational Bid Calling Contest

Greencastle, PA - On Monday May 9, 2016, Auctioneers from across the United States met in Tampa, Florida for the Sunshine State Invitational Auctioneer Bid Calling Championship.  The Florida Auctioneers Association sponsored the competition.

Prior to the contest the Florida Auctioneers Association offered a "Become a Champion" seminar, which was led by five champion auctioneers including, three-time World Champion Paul C. Behr, International Auctioneer Champions Tammy Tisland and Peter Gehres, World Livestock Champion Brandon Neeley, and World Automobile Champion Bobby D. Ehlert.

The contestants included several state champion auctioneers, as well as, former World-Pair Automobile Champion and an International Auctioneer Championship finalist.  Contestants were judged on presentation, chant/voice and effective auctioneering.  After the preliminary round of bid calling the field was narrowed to five finalists that then completed a round of interviews in front of the crowd.

At the end of the day, Pennsylvania Auctioneer Matt Hurley was awarded the title of Champion Auctioneer.   For his winning efforts he was awarded a one thousand dollar check and a glass championship trophy.
